The Jail is getting an assessment and inspection from ICE (Immigration) and some of the upper brass came to me and asked if I could create a new Jail Orientation Video... in one day. Many months ago I had started the project and had several photos and some video, but I hadn't taken it any further than having several photos and 40 min of quickly shot video.

For a full 13 hours I worked on this video yesterday. 10:30 AM till just before mid-night. I left work with 53 of the 80 paragraphs synchronized to video, and fortunately for me I was able to make an English version onto a DVD today by 1:00 PM.

The inspectors said that as long as I have the Spanish script recorded and only need to sync the audio to an existing video that should be good enough. So now I have some time to get the Spanish version out also. Crazy amounts of work, but that means that I have several hours that I can take on Monday the 14th. I love long weekends.

Construction everywhere...

OK, so I know that there is construction on nearly every road I travel on every day, and as I've driven around to many other areas that I don't usually travel to, all I see are orange cones and barrels there too. Today was quite the day. After struggling with a rather strange and somewhat complex SQL statement I was able to push out a version of an inventory management program that works with the Altiris programs but will allow us to input some of our numbers much easier and make reporting much faster and easier also. I was able to get some jail produce and make my way home. Miurvy's friend has 'moved in' with us as of yesterday evening and it should be a very good help to Miurvy in preparing her for delivering the baby. Speaking of which we had a little fluid loss scare and ended up going to the hospital with contractions but no pain and no real progression to giving birth, so we were sent home. People have always said that one more is always a LOT more, and one less is always a LOT less, but I think that Miurvy and I are so excited to have a little girl to spoil and go all princessy on that we aren't really thinking about that. I know that I am <evil> Na seriously, I am excited for a girl. I have very little idea about what she will be like or anything, but the change in expectations and total change in potential futures is very enthralling to consider. For a better history of what happened, go to Jelise's blog.

For now, I'm content to lay on my bed, using my neighbor's internet and update blogs that are nearly 8 months stale. I've always been a terrible journal writer and blogging is no different.</evil>

Prophetic Calvin

Calvin and Hobbes from Feb 16, 1992
<img style="cursor:pointer; Juice, Cookies, riding the tricycle, and meat are and have been a definate LIKE. Dislikes are developing to be sleep, banannas, and sharing.

Jared is learning the trials of travel and is doing very well. The turkey here that I will likely take a part in killing next week is a favorite of Ben and Jared. Making it squak and make noises is something that they both like. I've taken alomost 200 photos, some of the places and things we've seen (not very touristy, but cool) but most are turning out to be photos of my family.

We have been to the beach and it was a wonderful experience. Ben loved the water and wasn't very afraid of going deeper, but needed to be held close by daddy. Jared was pretty good too. He liked the water and the wind from the ocean. Daddy got really sunburnt on his back and everyone made jokes that he was a lobster and a very WHITE gringo. Which is all true.
Today though, the burn is all but gone and all that is left is the itchy dry skin phase which should be done tomarrow.

I actually didn't get that burned, but I was very red that night, and for a day or two was pretty sensitive, but I didn't get burned to the point of peeling. Just pain and the itchy dry parts. Very lucky, but also very quickly burned. We were only at the beach for about an hour or 1.5 hours. We did see a crab, and Shaddy nearly stepped on it before seeing it. After that she was so scared to even look at it.

Everything is going well, and I've even checked my email at work and nothing of importance has been sent to me. I'm glad that I can have a job that pays for me to leave for a few weeks, and when I do leave I can truely leave work and not have to take it with me.

OK, I gotta go. Kids are crying and the batteries just kicked in meaning only a little while of power and thus internet left.

Nothing to do...

Today is marked as a journal entry. Lots has happened since then and I'm glad that my wonderful wife has been keeping up in the journals of the boys. They have been doing so many things and learning so many things that it is a new joy every day to see them. Benjamin is able to move every wire of the wood-block rollercoaster from one side to the other. Jared is crawling and standing up on anything that he can get his hands on. Speaking of everything he can get his hands on, every single one of those items go into his mouth. When you try to stop him, he looks at you like, "Hey, what's your problem. I was going to eat that!"
Benjamin is a real pleasure, most of the time. He is putting together sentences in true to his nature Spanglish. More examples are on his blog.

As for me, I'm still working at Utah County and enjoying it immensely. We are working on a new Jail Housing Deputy program and so far they are liking the ideas that I've come up with.

We are working on getting ready for Halloween. I'm trying to find a new challange for my pumpkin carving, but I think I'll do the Sponge-Bob and Welcome again, but I'll see if something else gets my attention.

July Activities

We had a good 4th of July and a fun 24th. We attended both parades in Provo and in Salt Lake. Benjamin and Jared were both excited at the Freedom Festival Parade and with all the horses, sirens and cars Ben was clapping and doing his best to jump up and down on Mommy's lap and not fall over.

The 24th was also a good parade, but all of the family was pretty tired from the previous several days experiences so we had a good time, but not quite as fun as the 4th. After the parade we went and got our favorite tacos at the street vendor near 800 S. Main St. Then we all went over to Grandma's house for a little air conditioning and the kids took a nap. From there we all went home and got to bed early. Everyone was tired from the day and the heat.

Friday the 25th was yet another trip to Salt Lake, but only up to Taylorsville. Miurvy had an appointment to have her Biometrics taken again on her continuing road to becoming a citizen. The appointment was scheduled at 9:00, but we got there early and were in and out by 9:00. From there we went and had an early dinner at the Iceberg near Thanksgiving Point and took a trip to the Cabela's Museum to look at all the fish, bears, elk, etc and had a good time.

Date Night Friday!!!

So here I am at work, and now that my mid-day crisis has been solved before lunch, I'm thinking of calling it a day.

I've found out through secret sources that there is a date night planned for me. I met my wife Miurvy (ME-ur-V) through my brother and mother and we hit it off on a trip to Lake Powell with my family. We were married on Dec 30th 2005, not for the tax reasons but it did help, and have been happily married since. We had our first son, Benjamin, on Feb 1 2007 followed closely by our second son Jared on Jan 19 2008. They are the life and light of our family and are so much fun to be with and around. We moved into a home in Provo near the end of October 2007 and love it. I'm working for Utah County in Spanish Fork at the County Jail as a computer programmer / systems analyst while Miurvy works as a full-time, zero paid-time off, always on-call mother. She is such a wonderful woman and I love her dearly.
She does have a hobby of sewing and is very good at making things for babies and children. Her most purchased item are her nursing covers and crib bedding. She is working on getting her own patterns and designs for clothing, booties, diaper bags and other things but is doing well. Kid-to-Kid has been buying her nursing covers and they are selling pretty well. I'm trying to get some time to make her website fully functional but that is not getting done as quickly or as well as I would like it to be. Feel free to visit her site at www.formyweebaby.com and if you are interested give her or me a call for additional information. I'll try to post something about that later.

Remember when...

Remember back in the day... neither do I but I came across this photo a while ago when I was just a young'n. My neighbor, me, my sister, and another neighbor wanted to take a picture of me becuase I had gotten 2 black eyes. I think I have about 5 photos of me like this becuase it was so funny.
No, neither came from fighting. One was playing baceball in the basement and getting hit with the ball, the other was falling down our concrete steps from the kitchen to the back yard. I've been on the internet since 1994 when it cost $2.50 per HOUR of usage and the fastest speed you could purchase was a dial-up modem traveling at 2400 bps. As a comparison, the average user is connected to Comcast or DSL. Comcast is running at 6 Mbps. That capital M stands for million. 2,400 or over 6,000,000... lemme think. It would take at least 30 - 40 seconds to load a page of just text. Now we can load information faster than we can read, play, or use it.
So, finally I have decided to try out the blogging idea and hope to make use of it. I usually dont' have much to say, but I'll do what I can to keep it up to date with info about me, my family, and whatever other nonsense I can come up with.
